Updated 07/17/2024 | Published 07/07/2024

Question:

I need to replace the springs on my tandem axle boat trailer. Springs are 26” reverse 3 leaf. I also need to replace all of the hardware. Square axles rated for 3,500.

Hey Dan,

We have a few 26" trailer leaf springs available, but none that match the 3,500 pound rating you're needing. If your existing leaf springs are pretty old, it's very possible they stretched a bit over time, meaning you actually need a shorter set like the 25-1/8" 4-Leaf # e54SR as a new replacement. Also make sure you're measuring from the center of one "eye" to the other with the trailer lifted so it's not under load.

And just a note, the fact that it's a 4-Leaf isn't really an issue even though you'll be replacing 3-leaf assemblies.

For your square axles you can use the U-Bolt Kit # CE23103.

I measured bolt to bolt is where I got the 26”. The springs should each be rated for 1,500# x 2 is 3,000#. Axles are rated for 3,500. Does this all make sense?

@Dan It does, yep. I'd definitely go with 1,750 pound springs (which is what I recommended) to replace what you have. I'd hate for you to overload the suspension.
