Recommended 2,000 lbs Axle w/ Idle Hubs That Have a 5 on 4-1/2 Bolt

Updated 02/16/2026 | Published 02/08/2026

Question:

I am looking for a 2000lb trailer axle with 5-4.5 hubs to replace an old one. The spacing on the spring mounts is 58 1/2. Everything I have found on the site is 58, not 58 1/2. Do you have 58 1/2 product? please help

Hey Mike. We only have axles with 58" spring seats like the Trailer Axle with Idler Hubs item # e37YR. You can remove the spring seats and reinstall the Spring Seat for Typical 2,000-lb, Round Trailer Axles item # TRSS175 so they are a 1/4" over to give you a 58-1/2" span.

The Trailer Axle with Idler Hubs item # e37YR is a 2,000 lbs axle that has a 72" hub face and 58" spring center measurements. The included idler hubs have a 5 on 4-1/2 lug nut pattern.

What kind of trailer do you have?

Sorry for the delay responding, I was on the road for the last week, just digging out from the email heap. This looks like the best possible solution. I have to find a local welding shop (never had to look before), but it should be trivial for them. I need to re-measure to make sure I have the hub face-face dimensions right before I order. The trailer is an "Ultra-tow" 5x8 Aluminum, sold by Northern Tool. They don't stock replacement axles, and the trailer spring spacing is definitely "unique". Thanks. mike

@MikeD You're welcome! No, worries at all Mike. Yeah I used to be a welder. Removing the old spring seats from the Trailer Axle with Idler Hubs item # e37YR and installing some new ones item # TRSS175, will be pretty easy for them. I honestly thought it was a measuring mistake when you said 58-1/2". That's definitely an odd span for sure. Let me know if you have any additional questions.

@JerredH -- ordered. The e32GR is a better fit for the 12" wheels that we have so I went that way. Will report after the welding and installing.
