Question:
Greetings, We have a 2020 Toyota Tundra 4X4 Off Road Limited. We tow multiple trailers and haul a camper and gear. The loads are well within specs for the vehicle, but with the softer off road suspension we get considerable squat when loaded. We installed a set of Firestone air bags on a Tacoma we owned previously and were very satisfied with the results. The Tundra shows only one option for air bags, AL88299. My concern is that with this unit installed, the integrated jounce bumpers would adversely affect ride while unloaded, as was mentioned in several reviews. Is there a fix I should be considering? I am not interested in a weight distribution hitch. Thanks

Hello Sandra, thanks for reaching out. Adding an air bag kit to your 2020 Toyota Tundra 4x4 will definitely help with the sagging. The Air Lift kits are great, but if you want to avoid the integrated jounce bumpers, we do have another option, the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs # F2445. This is similar to the Air Lift kit in that they are 5,000 lb rated air bags. The Firestone bags do not have internal bumpers, so you can have a smoother ride when you are not towing. I generally prefer the Firestone bags over the Air Lift anyways. Firestone air bags are more durable since they use a rolled crimp seal for the top plate. Firestone brackets are generally easier to assemble and install as well. I have linked an install video for you below.

Hey Sandra, how did things go with the Firestone Ride-Rite air bags on your Tundra? Did they help smooth out the ride when you’re not towing? Your feedback could really help others comparing these to the Air Lift option.
