Recommended Rugged Waste Valve for an RV

Updated 03/22/2026 | Published 06/09/2024

Question:

Im using these RV waste valves to separate bins on my commercial fishing boat and I was wondering what your most rugged ones are? I put in a couple 3 plastic ones and the idea is sound but they arent sturdy enough for the application. Do you have any suggestions?

Hey Tav, the most "rugged" waste valve we have is going to be the Valterra Bladex Waste Valve for RV Black Water Tank # T40B. Valterra makes pretty good quality and durable products, so I'd recommend sticking with them.

Hey Tav, how did the Valterra Bladex waste valve hold up on your fishing boat setup? Your results could really help others looking for a tougher option in a similar environment.

@RobinH Unfortunately they didn't work. There was leakby and seepage from somewhere on all the valves. I tried it two or three years in a row and it didn't work. I've heard of it working on others boats but maybe my bins are bowed or the valve wasn't flush or the hole was too big or something.
