ShoreLand'r Boat Trailer Slipper End Leaf Spring Rubbing On Trailer Frame

Updated 06/10/2024 | Published 06/03/2024

Question:

I have a Shorelandr trailer and the slipper end of the leaf spring sits against the trailer frame. The issue is I think that I may be missing a part. As you can see from the photo, the bolt just below the slipper end has a loose metal shim. Could it be possible that there should be a rubber piece around that shim. Please advise, thank you.

On a slipper spring with a flat end like you have it is normal for the end of the spring to rub on the frame/spring hanger. With the style mount you have it makes me think you original springs were Open Ended # e24SR. This would help to explain the sleeve you have on the bolt as well as the spring would have rolled on the sleeve. The original spring was likely damaged and since they probably were not able to find the correct size they just went with what they could make work.
