Recommended Firestone Springs for a 2022 Jeep Gladiator

Updated 05/31/2024 | Published 05/27/2024

Question:

Good morning Jake, I have the Airlift 1000 and it’s about two years old and just failed. I haven’t been able to pull it apart yet to see what failed exactly yet! I’m considering replacing it with the Firestone set after watching your video comparison. However, I was recently told to look the Sumo Springs made by Super Springs International to replace the bags. I’m not sure they would work for my needs as I have a Jeep Gladiator JTRD diesel and tow a camper that places me right at the 6,000 max and they seem more of a bump stop, which doesn’t sound like it would perform like an air spring at all. I also intent to eventually lift my jeep for off-roading though and want to know if the Firestone kit offers shins like the AirLift 1000 kit does? Lastly, could I combine using the Sumo-Springs and one of the Airbag kits? Would that be advantageous in any way?

Hey Stanley, so I'd agree that the Firestone Coil-Rite Air Helper Springs # F29ZR would be better suited for what you want to do with your Jeep.

These springs fit inside your existing coil spring suspension on your vehicle, provide extra support for your existing rear coil springs, is made in the USA, and has a max load leveling capacity of 1,000 lbs.

These can not be used with a spacer kit # F2366, but if your lift does not change the dimensions of the OEM coil spring, then the Firestone Coil-Rite Rear Air Helper Springs, # F29ZR will work fine. If your lift does change the dimensions, then the the kit will not work.

You also can not use both the Air Lift air bags and coil SumoSprings together, the air bags fit inside the coil springs on the bag so there wouldn't be any room to also have the SumoSprings.
