Does Curt True Course Sway Control Unit Have to Mount on Driver's Side of Trailer
Updated 05/03/2024 | Published 05/02/2024 >
Question:
Your video states that the Curt True Course module has to be mounted on the drivers side of the frame. But, the manual from Curt merely says to mount the module horizontal and level to the trailer frame. Id like to mount it to the rear of my battery box which is horizontal and level, but the module would be facing the rear of the trailer in that position. Is this mounting location and orientation Ok? Also, how hard does the module apply the brakes? I have a relatively light weight trailer, and have my brake controller set at only 25 maximum output to avoid locking up the trailer brakes. Will the True Course module apply 100 braking power that would lock up the brakes? Thanks.

Hi Mike,
You do not need to mount the Curt True Course Advanced Bluetooth Trailer Sway Control # C94VV on the driver's side of the trailer, it does just need to be level.
The video is actually referring to how it's facing; the side of the # C94VV with the 7-way attached needs to be facing the vehicle - think of it as the 7-way needs a straight line path to your vehicle's connector.
So you would not be able to orient the module facing the rear of the trailer. As far as braking power, the True Course won't apply braking like a 100 intensity, it will more lightly engage the brakes very quickly.
