Hi Mike,
The Curt True Course Advanced Bluetooth Trailer Sway Control # C94VV would still need to be mounted to the frame of the trailer just as it would be with a bumper-pull trailer. Neither Curt nor Lippert could tell me if the unit had to face a specific direction, just that it needs to be level on the frame to properly operate. Some 5th wheels have a beam between the frame rails at the front that sticks out enough from the body to mount to, otherwise you'll need to place it on the side of a frame rail like you would with a bumper-pull trailer. You'd most likely be looking at replacing the 7-way cable on the trailer and True Course for longer cables to bridge the gap as well.
This system would be great for a bumper-pull trailer but it's honestly just not the best design for your 5th wheel and would likely cause more of a headache than it's worth. I recommend going with a system like the Tuson Asymmetric Sway Control # 335TSC-1000, which can be mounted on the frame and hardwired into the junction box. This wouldn't interfere with your 7-way and would function automatically so once installed you won't even have to touch it.
It does need to mount on the center line of the trailer so I would mount it under the chassis right in the front behind the wall of the trailer so that it's protected from wind and any road debris that could pop up and hit it.
