Updated 05/01/2014 | Published 04/27/2014

Question:

I would like to buy a hitch for my 2010 Honda CRV. I strictly need this to put a bike rack on it. I might haul a trailer around short 5-10 miles distances to move around my riding lawn mower. No wiring package. thanks so much

I recommend the Class III Draw-Tite Hitch, # 75547, for your 2010 Honda CR-V. A Class III hitch provides more versatility with its 2 inch receiver opening. This hitch has a gross trailer weight capacity of 4,500 pounds and a tongue weight capacity of 675 pounds. Just a reminder, you will want to follow the weight limitations of the component with the lowest rating. This would include the towing capacity of your Honda or any accessory that you mount in the hitch.

If you are interested in a hitch mounted bike rack, the Thule Helium Pro 2 Bike Carrier, # TH9042PRO, is a great option. This rack is loaded with features including a locking, anti-wobble knob, anti-sway cradles, an integrated cable lock, folding arms and a tilting mast.

If you will be carrying any women's, children's or alternative frame bikes, I recommend picking up the Yakima Tube Top Bike Adapter Bar, # Y02531. Bikes with small or angled frames can be difficult to load on hanging style bike racks and they can cause ground clearance issues. This adapter will allow you to load the bikes easily and safely. I have also attached a demonstration video of this adapter bar for you.

We also offer the Ball Mount, # 2753, 2 inch Hitch Ball, # 63845, or the 1-7/8 inch Hitch Ball, # 19261, that you may need to get you ready for towing.

If you find yourself needing wiring to operate the lights on a trailer, the T-One Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector, # 118427 can be plugged directly into your vehicle's existing wiring with no cutting or splicing needed.
