How does this install on a gooseneck ball?

The base of the Demco Recon # DM8550045 drops onto the 2-5/16" gooseneck ball then a pin is inserted into the tapered down section of the ball. Then there is a coupler nut above this that gets tightened down to hold tight on the gooseneck ball. You can see these steps in the installation instructions I have linked near the bottom of this page.
