Why Were Backing Plates Added to HappiJack Tie-Downs # LC236326-205221 For 2018 Ram 2500?

I’ve installed several sets of the Happyjack camper tie downs over the years. In the 2018 Ram 2500 kit, I see 2 new brackets or spacers that seem to go between the bed and the cab on the front mounts. What is their purpose? They seem to be only attached to the mount brackets.

The 2 new backing plates on the HappiJack Tie-Downs # LC236326-205221 were added to provide an additional set of mounting screws and give the behind bed brackets some additional stability.
