Do HappiJac Camper Tie-Downs Fit a 2024 Ram 3500

Question:

Hello. I have a 2024 Ram 3500 with the fixed full length side steps running boards wheel to wheel, fifthwheel and gooseneck prep, factory install rear hitch. Your website indicates the Happijac frame mount camper tie down system is available, and yet I noticed on the Happijac website that they have no camper tie-down system application for my newer Ram pickup. Would you help me understand this discrepancy and verify the product for sale on your site is indeed a system that would fit my truck? Thank you

Thanks for reaching out, David!

It looks like HappiJac doesn't list any Ram fitments past the 2017 model year but we've been able to confirm this will fit with trucks past that year which is why we show the HappiJac Camper Tie-Downs # LC236326-205221 listed as a fit for your 2024 Ram 3500. We've received some feedback from other customers that this does fit on models past that 2017 year if this helps ease your concerns at all.

Hi Jon, I was asked by email to respond to your advice. I completed my install yesterday. I went through the steps one by one, and when it came time to attach the Front Anchor Assemblies between the cab and the bed walls, to the Guide Plates Assemblies inside the bed, I discovered I couldn't get the anchor assemplies into position. No way, no how. Their length and bulk, and the unique angles of the bed metal, just wouldn't allow insertion into the tight space. I determined there may be a way to do it if I removed the full length OEM side steps. There is also rubber filler trim pieces on both side of the truck that fastens to a bed metal flange, and visually fill the gap between the bed and the cab. I removed the side step and the rubber filler strip on one side. I applied several runs of masking tape to the rear cab corner and front bed corner to protect the paint, from the bottom of both up to a little more than the anchor plate height. Now I had barely enough space to lift the Front Anchor Assembly from below, with the bracket ear already on the outside of the bed edge from the start. Then, with the help of a second person, I was able to fasten it to the guide plate assembly inside the bed. Upon reinstalling the rubber fill strip, I had to cut out a segment to accomodate the new assembly plate. I moved on to the other side and comnpleted it the same. The remainder of the installation was uneventful, but the Centering Guide Locks and bumpers instructions (FM-GL9) direct the installer to drill 3/16" pilot holes for the truss screws. That is incorrect! The screws are 3/16" and the pilot hole should be smaller. I didn't discover this until too late and found the screws would not bite. I will have to locate screws the next size up to correctly install the truss screw portion. Thanks Jon.
