Replacing/Upgrading Pin Box On A 2018 Grand Design Solitude

Question:

2018 grand design solitude, would like to replace pin box for smoother ride, Im looking at the curt air ride pin box, but not sure if it will fit in my truck Im worried about hitting the cab, I have a 2021 gmc 2500 with a BandW companion hitch.

Hello Micael. I can definitely help point you in the right direction. An Air Ride Pin Box like the Curt # LC369535 will definitely be an upgrade from a standard pin box.

What is the bed length of your truck? If you have a long bed, clearance will not be an issue. Short bed trucks are where you can run into potential clearance issues. Some short bed trucks may require the use of a sliding fifth wheel hitch. If you have clearance with the current pin box, you should be good though.

As far as the pin box, we will want to make sure you are getting the correct size. The Curt # LC369535 is designed to replace the Lippert 1621 pin box only. There should be a sticker or tag on the current pin box that tells you the model number, serial number ect... If you can send me a picture of that tag I can cross reference and determine the pin box number. That or you can use the chart I linked below to measure and determine the pin box size.

If you already have confirmed that you have a Lippert 1621 pin box, then the # LC369535 will be exactly what you need.

@MichaelM That should be a 1621 but I would need the model number and serial number in order to confirm this. That or you can use the measuring guide linked below.
