Can A Single Tire Chain Like TC1550 Be Used On All 4 Rear Wheels Of A Dually?

Question:
I have a Ford Transit T350 dually. If I purchase 2 sets of TC1550 chains, is it possible to install on both the inside and outside tires to get all 4 in the back? There seems to be enough space in-between that the chains wont rub against each other. Is installing two single chains on tires next to each other something that is done?

Hey Will that is a really good question. As far as tire chains for your 2015 Ford Transit T350 dually, we cannot recommend using Titan Chain single tire chains # TC1550 in the manner you described. They really are intended for single wheel vehicles only, and we would have major concerns about a drape-over chain fitting on the inner wheel and not becoming entangled. Also, the tensioning arm may have to reach across the center of the wheel, which would not be possible on the inner wheel. So it is not something we advise doing.
If you want to use the # TC1550 chains, you will need to install each chain on the outside tire on each side. The advantage of doing it this way is install will be much easier. A lot of people say that they get by just fine with chains on only the outer tires of a dually setup.
Obviously the more chains you use, the better your traction will be. If you want to have chains on all 4 rear tires we do recommend using a chain intended for dual wheels such as the Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains # TC4221CAM. This is just an example, and if you want to send me the exact tire size, I am happy to make a recommendation. The advantage of these is better traction, but they will be harder to install since they are drive-over chains as opposed to the single wheel drape-over chains.
As with any vehicle using tire chains, we do suggest checking your owners-manual for any rules and restrictions regarding the use of tire chains.
