Parts Needed to Install Curt Echo In-Line Brake Controller on a 2001 Roadmaster Monaco Motorhome

Question:

2001 Monaco roadmaster chassis rv Not wired for brake controller Wanting to add controller to tow triple axle trailer Currently only has 4 wire connector I know I will need to convert to 7 way plug and gain other wires Interested in Curt Echo inline wireless controller. Can I remove the plugs from the harness that comes with it and make those connections or what is the best way to do that? Or is there a better brake controller option. Not interested in running a wire from front to back. Thanks

Hey Rick,

I definitely get your hesitation on running wiring from the back of your 2001 Roadmaster Monaco, but since you currently only have a 4-Way connector installed we'll have to route wiring at least from your battery back to the wiring connector to power the Curt Echo In-Line # C79DR. There are other brake controller options out there but they either require the 12V power like the Echo In-Line, or they also require routing wiring into the cab of your motorhome so the In-Line will be the least-intensive installation for sure. Here are the parts you'll need to get the job done:

- Curt Echo In-Line # C79DR
- Adapter 4-Pole to 7-Pole and 4-Pole # 37185
- No-Drill Mount Bracket # 18136
- 10 Gauge Wire # 10-1-1 (sold by the foot)
- Pollak Circuit Breaker # PK54540
- Heat Shrink Butt Connectors # DW05745-5
- Ring Terminal # DW05762-1 (Qty 2)
- Ring Terminal # DW05741-1 (Qty 1)

If your hesitation with running the wiring is just that you haven't done it before then feel free to check out our installer link I'm attaching to this page to see which of our dealers would be up for the task.
