Question:

When I go to the site for the Draw Tite hitch # DR47FR, it states : Confirmed to Fit 2020 Ford Escape excluding Hybrid and PHEV. I have a hybrid. Ford is charging about $450 for their hitch kit and then told me it would cost $1200 to re-manufactureinch the part to fit my vehicle since it has the hands free liftgate. I did find this information and sent it to my Ford rep, but they said they had no idea if it would work or not. Will hitch #DR47FR work on my 2020 Ford Escape Hybrid without modifications and still allow the hands free lift gate to operate? Thanks

The # DR47FR does not fit the hybrid or PHEV models. It fits all other models excluding these two. This means the Draw-Tite hitch will not fit your 2020 Ford Escape Hybrid. However, the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e89YR is confirmed to fit the hybrid. I actually prefer this hitch since I think the matte black finish looks better than the glossy finish found on the Draw-Tite and Curt.

The hands free functionality will still be there, just limited. As is the case with any hitch, the receiver tube sticking out blocks the sensors from working directly in the middle. What you will need to do is place your foot on either side of the receiver to activate the hands free liftgate.
