Question:

Will lock fit a 285/70R17 on a Jeep Wrangler?

It does; a 285/70R17 tire measures 11.2" wide and the CLUB Tire Claw XL - Wheel Lock # WI491 fits tires up to 12" wide so it'll work!

I read the response to this question and based on the information provided I purchased this CLUG Tire Claw XL wheel Lock to lock my camping trailer that has 285/70R17 wheels.. However today when I got it and installed it to test it, I would say the claw is not really able to close sufficient to create a viable locking of the wheel. The locking bar/rod (chrome) that feeds into the locking mechanism, only allows for about 8” of tire space (top to bottom) and inhibits the tire itself from going deeper into the claw to enable a more secure locking. Maybe if the Tips of the claw were longer it would provide a more secure connection. As it currently is installed, the claw tips barely (e.g. less than a 1/2 inch extend over the wheel rim…and is very loose. You can move the claw around the circumference of the wheel, BTW my camping trailer is an off road Patriots Camping Trailer with large wheel wells. Hmmm

@Adams Just trying to understand a little more - you said the claws need to be longer to wrap around the wheel better, but even with the snug fit the wheel chock is too loose for your liking? Wheel chocks with this design are going to fit a little loose since they are pretty universal, but I definitively get what you're saying about wanting it to reach a little more around the wheel. I'm looking at the other options we carry, and they all look like they have about 8" of clearance from the end of the claws to the main body of the lock so I don't think you'll have much more luck with any of the other options in all honesty.

@JonG Good News…….after playing around with the wheel lock clamping the claw together…I was able to find a position where I got 1 extra click (YEA!!) and now it locks tighter…….I’ll post a review with 5 stars!!!

@Adams So glad to hear this! Sometimes it does take some wiggling around to get them to fit so I'm glad you went back to it and got it figured out!
