Question:
Hi, I am looking to add shocks to my dual 8k axle fifth wheel trailer. The Roadmaster Comfort Ride Shock Absorbers - 3.5inch Axles Item # RM-2470 seem to fit the bill, but my center equalizer does not allow space to install the shocks in the standard orientation. Im wondering if there is any reason that I couldnt swap the shocks between the axles, so that the shock kit would install with the shocks pointed away from the axles like this: \axle axle/, instead of: axle/ \axle. Does that seem like it would still work? Any reasons that the shocks should not be installed in this way? Thank you

While you could install the Roadmaster Comfort Ride Shock Absorbers # RM-2470 in the other orientation pointed away from the equalizers this would greatly decrease their effectiveness. Since the Equalizer allows for more movement on that side of the axle the shock absorbers have further they can travel to reduce shock. The best options are to either go with the full Roadmaster Comfort Ride Leaf Spring Suspension Kit w/ Shocks # RM-2470-2580 and remove your equalizers. Or you might consider adding the SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs # SS26MV to each axle to help absorb the shock and provide a more stable ride.
