Question:

What is the difference between comfort ride shocks and sumo spring? I want put one or the other on my fifth wheel that has a GVWR of 14,000 pounds. Thanks

I would be happy to recommend a suspension enhancement option for your 14000lb GVWR 5th wheel trailer.

Starting with the SumoSprings Trailer Helper Springs w/ Line Relocation Bracket # TSS-106-40 which act as shock absorbers taking the brunt of bumps and bouncing on rough roads, and offer 500lbs of support when 50% compressed to prolong the life of your leaf springs and suspension components. This option is great for being maintenance free, but will only fit trails with 3-leaf leaf springs, requires the axle to be under-slung meaning the axle is above the leaf springs and if you have a tandem axle trailer you will need two kits.

The option I recommend is the Roadmaster Comfort Ride Shock Absorbers for Tandem Axle Trailers # RM-2460 which is designed for 3" trailer axles with a 5200-7000lb axles, or # RM-2470 for trailers with 3-1/2" 8000lb axles. These kits use heavy-duty nitrogen filled shock absorbers to prevent the trailer from bouncing on rough roads, and since the mounting brackets are almost vertical they do a fantastic job of limiting up and down movement of the trailer to keep the contents of your trailer from moving around.
