Install the 30 inch step connected the red wire to power on battery and green wire to ground on battery and the Stept retracts not extend any ideas

Well according to the wiring diagram for the Lippert Electric Tread Lite Step for RVs # LC353542 the green wire should've been routed to a chassis ground not to your battery so that may have something to do with it.
Also, there is a chance the door switch is wired backwards. You'll want to also consult the wiring diagram attached, but the brown wire from the pigtail connector would need to connected to the switch, and the green wire coming off the switch would need to be grounded to the chassis.
I recommend checking these connections out first and try a few different configurations to see if the issue gets fixed. If not, feel free to come back and we can continue to troubleshoot.
