Comparing Curt And Draw-Tite Trailer Hitches For A 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Updated 06/17/2025 | Published 08/30/2023

Question:

I was looking at both the curt and draw-tite hitches but couldn't see much of a difference besides price and capacity. Is there anything else I should be looking at to find the best one?

Since both hitches are rated for higher than the capacity of your 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee the capacity really isn't as important of a factor. The smaller factors like the length of the receiver tube and how the safety chain loops sit would be the deciding factor between the two for me. I prefer the Draw-Tite's # DT42GR chain loops since they are a bit wider and slightly further from the receiver tube so you'll have more space to install your hitch bolt and safety chains. On the other hand the Curt # C96NR has a longer receiver tube so you'd have a bit more clearance between the vehicle and any hitch mounted accessories, like a bike rack or cargo carrier.

Personally I'd go with the Curt # C96NR just for the extra clearance so that if you do use a bike rack or cargo carrier you'll be able to fold them up without touching the vehicle.

Will the Draw-tite fit a 2024 Grand Cherokee with 20" full size spare

@Jb The # DT42GR sits out further than the # C96NR so it would allow for a full size spare.

@KevinC : note your answer here contradicts that of Robin H on 2/11/25. As 20" f/s spares are common on the WLs, clarification as to which of the 3 you offer will Actually clear that spare. Thanks...

@JohnM According to Blue Ox their item # BLU46HR does work with the full size spare tires on the 2021 - 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. We have not had a chance to install this hitch to verify ourselves though.
