Troubleshooting Demco Kar Kaddy that Doesn't Track Behind Tow Vehicle

Question:

I have a Demco kar kaddy 2. When I turn either direction the tow dolly sticks out If I turn right it sticks out on passenger side if left it sticks out drivers side and won’t center when going straight.

I found a few people who had this problem online and the solution was to really tighten the wheel straps to the wheels of the vehicle that is getting towed.

i have same problem with dolly not tracking behind motor home and tighten straps but the longer you go down the road it will finally track back to center. Same brand demco kar kaddy 2

@ArthurC So I sent this to Demco and this is what they sent me: Good morning. The Kar Kaddy 2 hasn’t been built by Demco for years, so if the customer indeed has one, he must have purchased it used. The customer didn’t say, if this happens when towing empty or loaded, so I will give 2 answers. Unloaded: When towing the dolly empty, the steering pin MUST be installed to keep the axle of the dolly from steering. When loaded the steering lock pin MUST be removed. Loaded: If this is occurring when loaded, one of two things is most likely happening. A.) the car must be driven on the dolly straight with both wheels of the vehicle fully against the wheel stops on the dolly. If the car is not loaded straight, the dolly won’t track straight. B.) The steering wheel of the vehicle loaded on the dolly must lock when the keys are removed from the ignition. If the steering wheel does not lock, the customer needs to use the Demco steering wheel strap item 5975. If the steering wheel on the vehicle isn’t locked once loaded on the dolly, the dolly and the vehicle both have wheels that are steering. This can cause the dolly to not track straight behind the coach.
