Troubleshooting A Furrion Camera System That Switches To Side Cameras When The Brakes Are Applied

I have the Furion system and manually all the cameras are in the correct position but when I brake it shows the side camera instead of rear.

Based on what you're describing the side cameras of your Furrion Vision S Wireless RV Backup Camera System w/ 3 Cameras # FCE48TASL-05 will do this for one of two reasons. You could possibly have the turn signal wire of the camera spliced into the brake light circuit, which triggers the side cameras to take over the monitor when the wire gets power.

You could also have auto display turned on and the side camera was the last one paired to the system so it's reverting back to that camera after the allotted time. You can unpair the rear camera and then pair it again to have it be the last one connected to the monitor or just turn the auto display and LCD auto settings both off.

Since it's happening when you brake I'd say it's most likely that the turn signal wire is spliced to the brake/stop light circuit and you'll just need to disconnect and cap it off.

Isn't the left turn wire also the brake wire from the truck? How would you disconnect this?

@Jason The brake and turn signals are typically combined on a trailer but the converter built into the tow vehicle wiring would separate the signals so that if you were braking with the left turn signal on only the left turn signal would be passing through to the tail light on the left side and the brake signal would only pass through on the right side. If you don't want to have the side marker cameras activate off of the turn signal then you'll just want to cap off the yellow trigger wire on the camera. The red and brown wires can be spliced together with the running light circuit and the black wire can be grounded to the frame.

@Jason I'm having the same problem and I think it's just a flaw that Lippert didn't think about. I don't believe a seven-way connector has a brake terminal, it just applies both turn signals at the same time when you hit the brake. Therefore, this thing just picks one of the side cameras randomly and turns it on when you hit the brakes. I understand the tech advice is to disconnect the turn signal input from your side cameras, but that's a feature it's supposed to have when you hit the turn signal to activate that side camera. Furion should have put some kind of programming in to cancel it out when it receives both turn signal voltages at the same time (when you apply the brakes). I have found it to be a flawed system overall and feel kind of ripped off.

@Tristan It's supposed to know that when both lights come on it's the brakes and not to turn on a camera so I'd wonder if it's a wiring issue.

I have the same problem with my cameras. Same exact system but when I took off my left turn signal my right turn signal yellow wires. The cameras did not activate when I turned on my left and right turn signals. What is the alternative to this?

I am having the same issue. When I have the monitor view all, once I press the brake, instead of the rear camera activating, the left camera activates.

@Michael I would check to see if all of your stoplight and turn signals are working on your trailer. My guess is that not all of the lights are working and this problem is just a symptom of that issue. Let me know what you find.

@JamesonC All my lights are working correctly. From what I have been reading, when someone installs the cameras, they only have two wires coming from the RV to the turn signals. When I exposed my wiring, I have five wires, one of the wires is a daisy chain. Is there a way I can attach a photograph so you can see the setup?
