Question:
Hello, I have a 2010 Chevy Suburban just wondering which wiring adapter is compatible with my SUV? I will be purchasing the TK90160. Thanks,

Expert Reply:
Chevrolet had a plug-in port for a brake controller harness for trucks and full-size SUVs, but they stopped doing that after 2006. There should be a bundle of wires tucked up underneath the dash held together with a tag. The tag lists the functions of the wires on it. You will need to splice the brake controller wires to the tow package wires by functions.
On the controller, red is input from the brake switch, the white wire is ground, black is 12-volt power, and blue is output to the trailer brakes. The tow package wiring on the truck should have a white wire for ground, a light blue and white wire for input from the brake switch, a red/black wire for 12-volt power, a dark blue wire for output to the trailer brakes. If there is an orange wire it will not be used.
I have included a photo that shows where the wires should be under the dash. I have also included an installation video for the Tekonsha Primus IQ Trailer Brake Controller, part # TK90160.
To test the wiring, I recommend a circuit tester like part # PTW2993.
