Question:
Customer has a 2022 Subaru Outback all wheel drive, and would like to install a hitch. Whats the difference between the Curt 13494 and 13570? What else would be needed to install a 7 pin connection? I found the Curt 56040 wiring harness, but then you would also need a 4 pin to 7 pin adapter, correct? I guess Im asking your opinion on the entire setup. Thanks.

The difference between the Curt 13494, our part # C67JR, and 13570, our part # C69VV, trailer hitches is that 13494 has a hidden crosstube so all you see is the receiver, while the 13570 is more of a "classic" hitch that has the receiver level with the crosstube. I recommend the 13494 because it looks cleaner and it has better ground clearance.
For a complete 2022 Subaru Outback Wagon towing setup with a functioning 7-Way I recommend the following:
- Curt Trailer Hitch # C67JR (same as Curt 13494)
- Tekonsha T-One Wiring # 118467
- Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7
- Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED24FR
- Tow-Pro Liberty Wiring Harness # RED69FR
The Tekonsha 4-Way wiring harness has a much better module than the Curt alternative and then the Liberty brake controller has the standard proportional operation but it installs out of the way so the only part you see is the control knob - this helps to save on precious in-cab space while still providing an excellent brake controller.
I've attached some installation videos as well as some photos comparing the Curt hitch styles for you to check out.
