What is the difference between a D and E load range on the trailer tires?

Trailer tire Load Range is a way to organize tires by weight capacity. The higher the Load Range the higher the weight capacity will be. The actual capacities varies by tire size though so it's hard to be more specific than that unless you had a tire size in mind.

For example the # AM1ST77 that you referenced is a Load Range D and has a capacity of 1,610 lbs at 65 psi. This is the highest Load Range option we have in this tire size of ST175/80R13 but a Load Range C in this size has capacity of 1,360 lbs.
