When installing the 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 4,000-lb Trailer Axles # e48SR I recommend using one of the kits below depending on the amount of axles you have and the length of the current straps. While the length does not have to match exactly you will want it as close as possible to maintain your current ride height.

Dexter 4,000 lb axle leaf springs like the part #e48SR for 26 inches long or part #e57SR for 25-1/4 inch would work great with a 3,500 lb axle. There would be no issue with 1,700 lbs of weight either.
