Does Going from Steel to Aluminum Wheel Require Different Lug Nuts

Question:

what size lug nuts are used on an aluma trailer 7712h single axle 205/75r/14 tire and wheel... 5 0n 4-1/2 bolt pattern- want to switch from the standard alum. wheel to a steel trailer wheel what type lug nuts to use on a steel wheel? thanks

Since you have 14 inch trailer wheel the studs of your hubs would be 1/2 inch which is a very common lug nut size. You don't actually have to switch lug nuts to go from steel to aluminum wheels though (or vice versa). Aluminum wheels have steel inserts for the flange so there won't be an issue with dissimilar metals.
