Hello, everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at the CE Smith 24-inch-long Safety Chains with the S-hooks. These have a 7,600 pound weight capacity. Now, these are required in most states, 'cause the safety chain acts as a backup connection if your trailer becomes disconnected from your tow vehicle. Basically, you'll attach this one end here of this zinc-coated steel chain to your trailer's coupler, and then you'll hook this S-hook to your hitch. If you notice on the S-hook, they use these integrated security spring clips to prevent accidental unhooking, and these chains are a zinc-plated steel.
They resist rust and corrosion. Now, this set here is perfect for trailers under 7,600 pound combined gross weight, which means the total of the trailer plus the carried load. We mentioned the chain length, 24 inches in length, and this is an 8/0 chain size, which means the length thickness is 5/16 of an inch, and on the S-hook, the inside width on this S-hook is 3/4 of an inch. But that should do it for a look at the CE Smith 24-inch-long Safety Chains with the S-hooks.
Exceeded expectations
Exactly what we needed, replacement as OEM . When your chains are looking rough, it’s an easy safty update.
Everything as promised: shipping, quality, etc.
Great quality safety chains for light duty applications. Priced right!
Exactly what I needed. Quick shipping and a fair price. Thanks!
These were a perfect fit for my kayak trailer. The original chains on it were too long and got some road rash, and then, of course started to rust. These are perfect replacements.
Turns out these were not needed.
And because the reciever was the incorrect one and needed to be returned these hitched a ride back at no extra cost.
They were solid, well made chains, had I needed them would have been confident using them on the trailer.
Disappointed, needed to replace 5/16” diameter chain link for trailer safety chain. This chain is 1/4” diameter link. From etrailer listing above: (Tows Moderate Loads Safely: Rated for 3,500 lbs with 5/16" diameter links that handle common utility and small equipment trailers.)
The hook with spring clip is nice and would work well with hitch.
Fast shipping and customer support.
