Troubleshooting Curt Trailer Hitch Mounting Bracket Not Fitting 2022 Volkswagen Taos

Question:

I have a 2022 AWD VS Taos. I’m trying to install the Curt hitch. So I’m half way through the install, the two bolts on the passenger side are on. Unfortunately the bolts on the driver side don’t line up. It seems as if the mounting plate isn’t square? How do I get the holes to line up? Thanks

From what I'm seeing in the photo you sent in it looks like the bracket(s) on your hitch got bent a little during shipping. This isn't super uncommon and as long as you aren't seeing any cracks in the metal or flaking of the powder coat you can safely, but slowly, bend the hitch back into place - it looks like you need it maybe 1/4" to 1/2" wider.
