I checked with Stealth Hitches and the correct one for your X5 xDrive 35i M Sport is item # SH79VR. This hitch is custom fit and bolts to your BMW with included hardware.

The Stealth Hitches item # SH79VR includes a 2" receiver that can only be used for accessories like bike racks and cargo carriers. If you are looking for a tow capable hitch then you are going to want the Stealth Hitches item # SH85VR. This hitch includes the towing kit which gives you a 7-way connector and a ball mount.

The Stealth Hitches item # SH56VR you were referring to only fits the M Performance Models.
