Question:
I ordered a relay kit RM-88400 for my 2022 Ford Escape. I also watched a video for this product install on a 2021 Escape. For the most part it was straight forward with the exception of the brake light wire. The video indicates starting at 4:35 that there are two purple/white wires. I checked mine and all I see is one. I also read a QandA where someone asked about this and it indicate that there was a singular wire. Could you clarify verify that there is only one wire and that that the Black wire from the relay will be connected to the purple white wire going to the brake light. The blue wire coming from the relay will be connected to the purple white wire going to the brake switch. I am only cutting the ONE purple/white wire, correct. Thanks

According to Roadmaster the brake light switch on your 2022 Ford Escape will be a purple/white wire.
Here is the wiring layout for the Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-88400:
Normally closed application (applies to most vehicles)
Black - Brake Light
White - Ground
Red - Fuse tap
Green - Brake light switch
Blue - Not used
Normally open application (applies to Ford and Lincoln models with neutral tow kit and push-button start function normally)
Black - Brake Light
White - Ground
Red - Fuse tap
Green - Not used
Blue - Brake light switch
I don't have a wiring schematic to be able to tell you how many purple/white wires are on your 2022 Escape but if you're only seeing one purple/white wire then it sounds like you're found the brake light switch. You'll need to use a probe-style circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to verify that the wiring on your 2022 model matches what we connected to for the 2021 model. Unfortunately manufacturers might change wire color at any time for any reason so it's not always cut and dry.
