Question:

Hello, I have installed a roadmaster baseplate, charge line, and diode brake light kit with a Demco Stay n play duo on a 2025 Ford Maverick. What Brake light switch and brake relay do you recommend for this application? The universal Roadmaster brake light switch would not a first choice since it requires recalibration on battery loss. Also, is there a way to consolidate the answers to questions about the best flat tow accessories for a particular model. With extensive research I still didn’t understand that these two elements were needed on the vehicle until after I got started. Thank you, Justin

Hey Justin! The Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM87GR you were looking at is the one you want for your 2025 Maverick. This is the one that is custom fit for your vehicle. Then for the relay you need the Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-88400.

We try to make this information as clear as possible but there are a lot of variations and parts that aren't needed for certain brake systems. This makes it difficult to have a decisive list since parts can vary slightly for different setups. With the base plate, charge line, and tow bar wiring it sounds like you're pretty much set once you add these parts. I'm assuming you already have a tow bar and safety cables. The only other thing you might need is a high-low adapter like # e52ZV to keep you +/- 3" of level.

We did the same install on our 2024 Escape PIHV bought new in Sept 2025. I've done 3 installs in the past on normal vehicles. I got to the part where you pickup a brake signal from the brake light switch and realized there was no brake light switch. I called Tech Support and the guy was amazing knew exactly what the problem was and the solution. He recommended their switch and bracket. It fit perfectly on bolts/studs that were already there... no drilling and was easy to adjust. Yay!! Regarding battery question I installed the Towed Battery Charger device by RVI. Installed per instructions and it works perfectly. I am very happy with my installation. No batter issues towing over 7 hours straight. Any other questions pls let me know.

I used the Roadmaster stop light switch on my 25 Maverick and it work great, didn't need the relay kit. I also installed the Roadmaster battery charge line kit and have had not problems with the battery, we towed this past fall and drove for over 5 hrs with not problems.
