Will The Carr Hitch Mounted Step With With A 2022 Silverado 1500 Multi-Flex Tailgate
Published 01/02/2023 >
Question:
What is the dimension from the front hitch pin hole to the edge of this step in the folded position? Trying to determine if I can leave this in my 22 Silverado 1500 hitch and open the multiflex tailgate fully with the inner gate in the down position. Quick measurement shows I have about 4inch from front hole on hitch receiver to inner gate. Thanks

I ran out to the warehouse and took some measurements of the Carr Hitch Mounted Step for 2" Trailer Hitches # CARR183252 and got the following measurements depicted below.
Closed:
Center of first hole: 3-3/8"
Center of second hole: 4-1/8"
Open:
Center of first hole: 6-7/8"
Center of second hole: 7-5/8"
Since you said you have about 4" from the hitch pin hole to the inner gate you should have about a 1/2" of clearance. I played with the step a bit while I was out there and the step portion is pretty hard to get to fold down so you won't have to worry about it accidentally coming down while your tailgate is down and scratching or denting it.
