Question:

I want to tow a fifth wheel trailer with our new truck, a 2023 Chevy Silverado 2500. What do we need for this? I don't really want to drill a bunch of holes.

In order to install a fifth wheel hitch on a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 6-3/4 Foot Bed without OEM Prep Package you'll need to start with a frame bracket and base rail kit for which I recommend the Demco Premier Series Above-Bed Base Rails and Custom Installation Kit part # DM39FR. This kit provides you with a set of industry standard above bed base rails that will work with most fifth wheel hitches on the market and it does not require any drilling into the frame, just the bed.

I then recommend using this with the Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # DM8550035 which has a unique feature in that it can slide back away from the cab automatically during tight turns so you don't have damage to the vehicle or trailer. This is required in most cases when towing a fifth wheel trailer with a short bed truck. It has a 21,000 lb weight capacity which should be more than enough for any trailer you want to tow with the truck. I will say however that the hitch is heavy so you won't want to be taking it in and out of the truck bed too often. I recommend using a tonneau cover to protect the hitch when not in use, the BAK Revolver X4s Hard Tonneau Cover part # BAK22VR.

In order to complete your setup, I simply recommend adding the Demco 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness part # DM8555002 so you don't strain your trailer connector routing it from the truck bed to the bumper each time. This harness offer a plug-in-play install with no splicing required.
