Does the Dexter 10" Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Kit Require Initial Adjusting
Updated 10/18/2022 | Published 10/17/2022 >
Question:
I just purchase 2 sets of Dexter self adjusting Trailer brakes from you guys. 023-469-00 and 023-468-00. Do I really need to do the self adjusting star wheel in the back since when I step on the brakes they will advance one click until they are where they should be? With that small piece of metal on the star wheel it does not adjust too easy. Again, do I really need to even do it? A few stops hitting the parking break should do it. Thoughts? Thanks

Expert Reply:
The Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Kit part # 23-468-469 doesn't require an initial adjustment as is the case with most self-adjusting braking assemblies but it's recommended to get the best performance possible per the manufacturer. The adjustment procedure is done by turning the star wheel on the back of the braking assembly through the access port until there is a slight drag on the hubs.
