Question:
Hello! I have a 5x8 aluminum Trailer from Northern Tool. I am building a very lightweight tear trailer out of all plastic composites. It will be around about 750 lbs empty and might get close to 1000 lbs loaded. I will be towing with a CX5 or hybrid Rav 4. They are rated at 2000 lbs and 1750 lbs. I want to put a Timbren suspension on it. 1. Do I go with the 1200 lb or 2000 lb suspension. I dont want the 2000 to be too stiff but im nervous getting that close on the 1200. 2. Will a timbren suspension work correctly on a setup that light? 3. Are there any issues attaching steel suspension to aluminum corrosion? 4. Thoughts on brakes? Can I add them with ASR2000S02? I live in coloraodo. It will mostly be used in the rocky mountains. Is that overkill?

I have the perfect solution for your 5x8 aluminum Northern Tool Trailer!
I would recommend going with The Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System # ASR1200S04 because the 2,000 pound system is overkill. Using this system will give you 2 independent units that can eliminate the need for a thru axle. It will increase the ground clearance and fit any trailer width.
The system has a heavy-duty steel construction that has a black powder coat that resists wear and corrosion. It is easy to install and align and can be either bolted or welded to your trailer's frame. The spindle needs an Inner Bearing # L68149 and an Outer Bearing # L44649. The Easy Grease Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # AKIHUB-545-35-G-EZ-K is the the idler hub needed for the Timbren system mentioned above.
To install brakes The Dexter Electric Trailer Brake Assembly - 7 inch - Left # 23-47 and The Dexter Electric Trailer Brake Assembly - 7 inch - Right # 23-48 is the correct brake setup for you.
