Question:
I recently acquired a boat/trailer and to ensure everything is in good condition I would like to replace bearings/race/seals/retaining nut keepers/washers. Can you help me verify and/or identify these parts? The bearing numbers are not really legible on these Chinese bearings, but I will try. - rear seal TCM 171255TC Taiwanese seal - outside bearing I believe is - L44549 the 5 could be a 6. The 9 could be an 8. With my cheap calipers the ID is 1.0600, OD around the widest part is 1.7870 and width is 0.6085 - Inside bearing - L68149 the 6 and 8 just look like it was split on the bearing print i.g - the 8 looks like an E space then a backwards E. Same cheap calipers has it as ID is 1.3765, OD around the widest part is 2.1625, and width is .6590 - I have no idea for any race information - The number on the spindle is 8 - 248 and looks to have the Dexter logo pic attached. This is for a 1996 Trailmaster Ultra boat trailer VIN - XXXX with an axle tag by Lasalle Axle Group, 3700 lb capacity, serial 780890, and I believe it is a Dexter Axle with easy lube spindles. I would appreciate help in verifying the components along with links to your products that I could order. Thank you for taking time to help me! I always love the information you folks provide and it makes it easier to get maintenance complete.

Thank you for all of the information! We've done a lot more with a lot less - the information you provided is great!
Your Dexter Axle 8-248 idler hub belongs in the same family as the Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 3,500-lb Axles - 5 on 4-1/2 # 84545BX which uses L68149 and L44649 bearings as well as a seal with a 1.719" ID and 2.565" OD.
This means you have a #84 spindle so the correct replacement bearing kit for your application is part # BK2-100 which comes with the bearings, races, grease seal, tang washer and cotter pin to replace what you have. This is enough for 1 hub so you'll need to adjust your order accordingly.
Attached is a review video as well as an installation video to help you with the kit installation.
