Recommendation for Reducing 3" Super Titan Receiver With 3/4" Hitch Pin To Use a 2" Hitch Ball Mount
Updated 07/26/2022 | Published 07/24/2022 >
Question:
I have a 2 inch hitch bar with a 4 inch drop that has a 5/8 inch hitch pin. My question...can I use a 5/8 inch hitch pin on a 3 inch hitch with 2 reducers, all have a 3/4 inch hitch pin hole so can I use my heavy duty 5/8 inch hitch pin on that. There would be movement but load is only 3,000 lbs or less. Can I do that and tow safely if I have no other alternative? My 2 inch hitch bar doesn't have a 3/4 inch pin hole, only 5/8 inch pin hole.

The Reducer Sleeve for Super Titan Hitch Receivers # 38735 is the best option for reducing your 3" hitch with the 3/4" hitch pin and use a 2" ball mount. This adapter allows for a trailer weight up to 12,000lbs and 1,200lbs of tongue weight. That will ensure that you are safe when towing your small trailer.
If you were to use the 2" ball mount with 5/8" pin inside 2 adapters and inside the 3/4" pin hole it would move around excessively inside the 3" receiver and cause wear on both the pin and pin hole. The pin hole will begin to get elongated and appear more oval over time than round.
