Best Kayak Trailer For Carrying Old Town Sportsman PDL 120 Kayak
Updated 07/16/2024 | Published 07/23/2022 >
Question:
Would optimally be hauling one heavy fishing kayak to start with the option to add another kayak at some point down the line when my kid gets a little older. The OT PDL 120 has the double-U hull, so uncertain if bunks are the best option if there are other options that would also suffice?

I recommend using the Malone EcoLight Sport Trailer with J-Style Carriers # MAL93FR for your Old Town PDL 120 kayak. Looking at the owners manual for your kayak they do recommend storing the kayak on its side rather than on the hull. These carriers will allow you to leave the kayak on the trailer for storage. You can remove the second set of mounts and position your single kayak toward the center until you are ready to carry an additional kayak. The trailer can support up to 400lbs which is more than enough for the 116lb kayak.

I already own a microsport trailer and would like to purchase 2 sets of J-racks separately. Do you sell the J racks as stand alone items?
