Bunk Boards

These carpeted bunk boards provide hull support for your boat during transport and storage. Each 6-foot-long board is wrapped in weather-resistant, marine-grade black carpet. You can run the bunk boards front to back for traditionally shaped hulls or side to side for flat-bottom boats, kayaks and inflatables.

To attach the bunk boards to the front and rear crossmembers of your trailer frame, use existing brackets or a four-pack of swivel mounting brackets (CE10000G-4, CE10001G-4 or C10002G-4 - sold separately). These brackets allow you to install the bunk boards at different heights. In addition, they enable the bunk boards to tilt to accommodate and support boat hulls of different sizes.

  • Solution for Needing Replacement Carpeted Bunks 100, 105, and 34 inches
We have 36 inch long bunk boards available like with the part # CE27800 but the longest we offer are 84 inches like the part # CE27845. We don't have any that are 100 or 105 inches long. We do have bunk carpet in 18 foot long sections like the part # CE11349 which you could use with boards if you could source them elsewhere.

  • Recommended Bunk Boards and Brackets for Boat Trailer
For your Calkins trailer, I recommend using the CE Smith Carpeted Bunk Boards for Boat Trailers - 6' Long - 1 Pair # CE27840. These bunk boards will install with the CE Smith Bolster and Swivel Bracket Assemblies # CE10001G-4 as well as CE Smith U-Bolts # CE15283GA-4.

  • Availability of 9-1/2 Foot Carpeted Bunk Boards for Boat Trailer
No worries, you can easily construct some bunks yourself. Go to your local lumberyard and get some treated yellow pine 2x4x10 boards. You can then purchase some of the marine-grade carpet we offer, like part # CE11372. You'll need one roll per bunk, which means you'll have some scrap left over, but if you're anything like me you'll find a use for the scrap. You can use carpet adhesive to attach the carpet to the bunks, but two years ago when I re-did the bunks on my PWC trailer I used...

  • Bunk Board Supports and Replacement Bunk Boards for a Escort Boat Trailer
Thanks for the pictures! Yes, the CE Smith Bolster and Swivel Bracket Assembly item # CE10000G would offer your bunk boards support and be a great upgrade to your Escort boat trailer. You can replace your current bunk boards with the 6 foot long CE Smith Carpeted Bunk Boards for Boat Trailers item # CE27840. Another option is to remove your current bunk boards and keep your galvanized steel supports and rails and just attach new bunk boards.

  • Recommendation For Adding Bunks or Rollers to a Calkins Boat Trailer for a 21' Boat
As far as size is concerned, you want the bunks/rollers to be at least half the length of your boat. Whether bunks or rollers are the better option really comes down to your use. If you take your boat on and off of the trailer quite a bit, then going with rollers would be a good choice. The boat will smoothly roll over the bunks which is easier and less taxing on the hull of the boat. Given the size of your boat you would need to use 3 of each product below: - CE Smith Roller Bunks for...

  • How To Choose the Correct Roller or Carpeted Bunk Boards for a Trailer
The size of bunk board or bunk roller you will need for your boat trailer is based off the hull size. However, generally speaking the manufacturer knows what size roller/bunk works best for the boat/trailer. Therefore I recommend using the same size that the trailer came with but it wouldn't hurt to go a bit longer if you have room. If you are switching from rollers to carpeted bunk boards then I would go longer. For the carpeted bunk board option we have part # CE27800 which are 36" long,...

  • Parts Needed to Convert a Boat Trailer From Rollers to Bunk Boards
This can absolutely be done. While there are not "kits" for doing the conversion, we do have the parts that you will need. These are not kitted together because each boat/trailer combination is different, so it is easier to not kit them. It is recommended to have bunk boards that are at least 50% of the length of your boat. You can have longer boards if you would like, but you want at minimum 50% of the length. Since your boat is 21', you will want bunks that are at least 10.5' long. I...

  • Recommendation for 10 Foot Long Carpeted Bunk Boards for a Bass Boat Trailer
I have a couple of options for you to add 10 foot long carpeted bunk boards to your trailer. First, you could use 2 sets of the 5 foot long boards, # CE27820. The other option is to get 10 foot boards locally and staple on some carpet yourself. We have different carpet options depending on what size and color you want and I have included a link to them for you.

  • Converting Boat Trailer From Rollers to Bunk Boards
Hi Tim; to convert your boat trailer from roller bunks to bunk boards all you need are the bunk boards and brackets to mount them. You will need to measure the roller bunks you have and get the same length of bunk boards: - 7 Feet: CE Smith Carpeted Bunk Boards for Boat Trailers # CE27845 - 6 Feet: CE Smith Carpeted Bunk Boards for Boat Trailers # CE27840 - 5 Feet: CE Smith Carpeted Bunk Boards for Boat Trailers # CE27820 For brackets you can use the CE Smith Bolster and Swivel Bracket...

  • Recommended Bunk Board Replacement Options for Boat Trailer
For your boat trailer, the length of bunks is dependent on the boat and the trailer, so I would be hesitant to change anything from the factory. It soulds like you have a couple of 2 foot bunk boards that need to be replaced and you can use the CE Smith Carpeted Johnboat Bunk Board for Boat Trailers - 2' Long - Qty 1 # CE27850 for the replacement. You can use shorter bunk boards in combination to reach your current lengths. Doing so will sometimes even increase the strength because...

  • Does Boat Have to Be Off Trailer to Install New Boat Bunk Boards
Boat trailer bunk boards like CE Smith # CE27840 can be secured to swivel brackets like # CE10000G-4 using either galvanized or stainless steel hardware intended for wood. This is not included so you will source the preferred hardware locally. Lag bolts/screws would be great to secure the bunks to the brackets (as long as they are short enough to not come through the bunk). Obviously the boat would have to be off the trailer to be able to install the bunks like you mentioned so you would...

These brackets will fit frames up to 6" tall. The correct U-bolts will be dependent on the size of your frame. For example if your frame was 3" x 3" you would need the CE Smith...

  • Are CE Smith Carpeted Bunk Boards Pressure Treated
The CE Smith carpeted bunk boards we have available like the 6 Foot # CE27840 that you referenced are not pressure treated. They are made from untreated southern yellow pine. I confirmed this with my contact at CE Smith. They do feature marine-grade carpeting that is weather resistant.

  • How To Determine Correct Bunk Boards and Mounting Hardware For 17' V Bottom Boat
We have exactly what you are looking for. It is recommended to have bunk boards at least 50% of the length of your boat, so since your boat measures 17' long you would want to go with bunk boards that are at least 8-1/2' long. This is the minimum recommendation so you can absolutely use longer bunk boars if desired, you just want them to run from the stern as far forward as you desire. Based on how the crossmembers are on your trailer I would pickup some 10' long 2" x 4" boards and wrap...

  • Should Boat Rest on Bunk Boards or Keel Rollers on Boat Trailer
The majority of the weight of your boat should be supported by the bunk boards or by roller bunks. When the article referenced rollers it did not mean keel rollers. Keel rollers like the # CE10401G can hold the weight of the boat when loading and unloading, and also provide great support for the keel and absorb road shock. However, they should not hold the majority of the weight of your boat on the trailer. In addition to keel rollers you will also want to use bunk boards like the # CE27840...

  • Can Treated Lumber Be Used for Bunk Boards
Pressure treated lumber can be used for bunk boards along with bunk carpet like the # CE11349. However, it is possible that some corrosion may occur from the chemicals in the lumber over time. The CE Smith bunk boards like # CE27840 are made from untreated southern yellow pine. The carpet keeps them protected and, since they are untreated, corrosion won't be a concern.

  • Proper Trailer Bunk Board Length for 21 Foot Boat
Two 12 foot long bunks boards will work well to support your 21 foot boat. Ideally, the bunk boards should be at least half as long as your boat and run from the stern (or a few inches beyond it) to the bow as far forward as you like. Due to shipping restrictions/cost on over-sized items, the longest bunk boards we carry are the CE Smith Carpeted Bunk Boards # CE27845 which are 7 foot long.
