Can A 14.5 Foot Long Dagger Stratos Touring Kayak Fit On A Malone EcoLight Trailer MAL73FR?

Updated 05/19/2026 | Published 05/16/2026

Question:

Can this single kayak trailer transport my 14.5 ft dagger stratus? I know it says max 14 ft, but could it handle 1/2 ft more?

Hi Carolyn!

Your Dagger Stratos touring kayak being 6" longer than what the Malone EcoLight Sport Trailer for a Heavy Kayak - 7' Bunks - 400 lbs # MAL73FR says it can handle will honestly not make any difference. You might just want to load it a little more rearward to make sure you can make full turns. You will also want to make sure you are tied down very securely. But you will be perfectly fine.

Cool kayak as well! Where have you taken it so far? I did a little kayaking in my youth, but I preferred lay down style paddle boards. I've always been tall and sitting in a kayak for long periods kind of hurt my back.

Yup, what Lazer said! I have a 10.5 ft Old Town 106MK and the Malone EcoLight Sport handles it with tons of room to spare. Keep in balanced on the trailer and you should be golden. One thing I added to mine (new to trailering) was guide posts so I could see where the trailer was before I could see it in my mirrors. That helped a lot! Paddle on!
