How Is Anchor Mode Used with Yakima Trunk Mounted Bike Racks

Question:
I just purchased a Yakima Hangout 2 bike rack and I plan to install on my 2019 Volvo XC-90. For this installation I believe both the top and bottom hooks must be converted to anchor mode. For anchor mode I am comfortable removing the 4 straps from the rack then running the material back through the center hole. At this point Im unclear on what to do next. Do I place all 4 anchors in the trunk and then close the trunk hatch? Then close the hatch and re-attach the straps to the rack? How do I ensure I have the right width for both top and bottom anchors? I cant think of a precise way to do this. Thanks!

We actually have an install video that shows how to use anchor mode on a similar Yakima bike rack to the Fullback 2 # Y02634 that you referenced. Fast forward to the 3:25 mark of the video. Once you have the hooks in anchor mode you slip them past the hatch like you mentioned and then use the cam tensioner of the strap to take out the slack and allow the rack straps to be at the correct length.
