I have a 2022 subaru Outback premium. I have a tear trailer with a 7 pin connection on it. What do I need to get my subaru installed with to utilize the 7 pin on my trailer. Kind regards,

Since your Tear Trailer has a 7-way connector you will need a brake controller and a vehicle 7-way connector on your 2022 Subaru Outback Premium. Lets start with the 7-way connector. There isn't one that is custom fit for your Subaru so you will have to go with a universal option to add on to your Subaru's 4-way. If you don't already have a 4-way connector you will need to add one first. The Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector item # 118467 is custom fit and plugs directly into a factory port in your rear cargo area. The second harness you will need is the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires item # ETBC7. The kit includes a pre-wired 7- and 4-way trailer connector that mounts easily at the rear of your vehicle with an included bracket. This kit is designed for use on a vehicle with an existing 4-way flat trailer connector and plugs directly into it.

If you already have a 4-way, you can skip the Tekonsha and just install the 7 way item # ETBC7.

For your brake controller I highly recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite item # RED44FR. This is a proportional brake controller that will engage your trailer's brakes when your Subaru decelerates. It activates immediately and is not time delayed. The Tow-Pro Elite has a unique installation method that allows you to mount the main control unit out of sight behind your dash. The only part visible is the control knob.

If you don't already have a trailer hitch you will also need the Draw-Tite Hitch item # DT73RR.

To round out your towing setup I recommend the Curt Towing Starter Kit for 2" Hitches item # C45534. This towing kit will provide you with a 2" ball and a fixed ball mount with a 3/4" rise and 2" drop. It also includes a hitch pin and clip, hitch receiver lock with keys, hitch cover, and a storage case.
