Could I also get a left-to-right measurement of the fixed part of the hook?

Definitely! The measurement of the circular area when the hook is completely closed on the # C48004 is 2.03" across. As far as the distance between the narrowest point of the top and lower of the opening when the hook is open, that measurement is 2.5" across. Both of these measurements were conducted with calipers.
