Best Hidden Plug-And-Play Brake Controller For 2022 Toyota 4Runner With Factory Tow Package

Question:
My 2022 4runner has the tow package from the factory. Ive got the factory harness to connect a controller. That just means that the only thing I need to buy is the controller itself like a Redarc, Curt, Reese, etc and connect it to the factory cabling? Seems pretty easy and straightforward but figured I would check... Is there a go to, recommended controller that is the one to get? Ideally I would prefer something thats out of the way and not cluttering up the dash as I already have a ton going on. The Redarc looks nice as it has the dial that goes in an unused button space and the unit itself gets hidden.

You are right that since your 2022 Toyota 4Runner has the factory tow package, all you need is the brake controller and harness for a plug-and-play install. Since you want something that is hidden and out of the way, the perfect option is indeed a Redarc brake controller that uses a dial, and there is even a mounting panel that will fit your '22 4Runner to mount the dial. I verified with Redarc that the correct parts are the following:
- Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller # RED44FR
- Plug-and-Play Wiring Harness # RED49FR
- Mounting Panel for Redarc Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controller Control Knob # 331-TPSI-002
The thing the Tow-Pro Elite does better than any other controller is give you control. It has two braking modes, the standard proportional control, which powers your trailer brakes with the same intensity as your vehicle brakes, or user-controlled mode, which allows you to apply the brakes with a pre-set amount of power your choosing. This can be really helpful in a number of situations, like going off-road or areas with longer descents because you can set your trailer braking to a higher intensity to keep the trailer from pushing your 4Runner.
