What is the Correct Trailer Wiring Harness for a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen
Updated 09/30/2013 | Published 09/28/2013 >
Question:
Unfortunately I purchased this for a 2013 jetta sportwagen and of course the tail lights are 5 wire instead 4 wire. If possible I would like to cut and splice this module to work, please let me know what wire colors need ti see what. Now I know the difference coukld mean that since the sportwagen has seperate wires for blinkers and brake and running lights this module may not work. Please confirm asap. And wire color description on the module side would really help, since this module is the to connection type.

The internal components of trailer wiring harness # 118572 are designed to work with the sedan models of the 2013 Volkswagen Jetta so even cutting off the connectors and attempting to hardwire it in will not work properly and it will void the warranty on the harness. You will need to install harness # C59496 which is a hardwire installation.
It is possible that the wiring on the vehicle will be as follows:
Drivers Side
White/Black Stripe = Tail Lights
Black/Red Stripe = Brake Lights
Brown = Ground
Black/White Stripe = Left Turn Signal
Black/Blue Stripe = Reverse Lights
Passengers Side – The same Except
Black/ Green Stripe = Right Turn Signal
But you will need to use the included circuit tester to make sure. There is no set wire color for any given function so they can change and that is why testing is a must.
