Comparing Bias Ply and Radial Trailer Tires
Updated 09/19/2013 | Published 09/17/2013 >
Question:
the tote with bias tires lack the grip of radials, will this allow the tote to drift back and forth, with a tow vehicle on the tote with radial on the rear looks hairy to me.

Expert Reply:
Bias ply trailer tires you see more on agricultural and off-road applications but they still work well on pavement. Radial tires track better and run cooler than bias ply tires and are best suited for pavement.
A trailer can sway no matter what type of tires are on the trailer. To prevent sway you would use a friction sway control bar, # 83660, or a weight distribution system with sway control.
I have included links to our FAQ article on trailer tires and weight distribution and sway control for you.
