I can help you solve this problem. Per the instructions, if your Blue Ox Patriot Portable Braking System - Proportional, part # BLU37TR, has a solid red light, there is too much pressure on the brake pedal. You need to pull the brake unit back, away from the pedal until the lights switch to a blinking blue and green sequence. After you do this, the brake needs to be repositioned. I have included the paragraph from the installation manual that explains how to reposition your supplemental braking system below.

We were having this issue aswell. Turns out we didn’t have the seat forward in our jeep. Once we moved the seat, it powered right up.

Our blueox Bx88393 brake controller screen in the RV won’t light up. Cigarette lighter plug is lit red. Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

@Kim Is the Blue Ox Patriot item still working? You may just have to replace your RF Controller item # BLU66CR.

@JerredH It is. Only used it 6 times in three years. Warranty is 2 years. Hate to spent 3-400 on a new one if anyone else got theirs to work. Never dropped stored in a box in RV.

@Kim I recommend resetting the entire system and try to repair the remote with your Patriot braking system but try to get the remote as close to the Patriot as possible. If you've already attempted this I do not have any other troubleshooting steps for you. You can try to contact Blue Ox directly and see if they've got any additional guidance that doesn't require you to purchase a new RF Controller item # BLU66CR.
