This Blue Ox Base Plate Kit (BX1633) gives you solid attachment points for your tow bar when flat towing. The fixed-arm design bolts directly to the chassis—no welding required—and the included mounting hardware locks everything down tight. The sturdy steel construction spreads towing forces evenly to help prevent stress on suspension components during long trips.
Even when the tow bar is off, this setup keeps things neat. The low-profile reinforcements and crossbar support beam blend in with the bumper, giving the front end a streamlined look instead of bulky brackets sticking out. When you’re not towing, it looks like your vehicle was never modified at all.
This base plate is built from heavy-duty steel and finished with a powder coating that resists rust and corrosion. It’s made to handle years of towing through all kinds of weather without weakening or flaking, so you can stay focused on the trip ahead instead of worrying about wear.
The lugs on this kit pair directly with Blue Ox tow bars for a secure and reliable hookup every time. If you already run a Roadmaster or Demco system, adapter options are available separately (RM-031 or RM-031-5 for Roadmaster, DM9523041 for Demco). That means you can keep your existing gear and still build a dependable setup around this base plate.
With a 27" distance between brackets and a bracket height of 17-1/2", you can plan your tow bar alignment quickly and accurately. Every kit comes backed by a 3-year warranty, adding a measure of confidence to a part that’s going to see plenty of miles down the road.

Glad the install went smoothly, Grant! Even with those weird handle nuts (which I agree are kind of odd). What's the first trip you have planned? And I will let Alex know what you said as well! : )

Thanks for your review, Richard! It sounds like this was a fairly involved installation, but we're glad to hear everything came together successfully in the end. We appreciate you sharing the details of your process, especially the tips about the tight frame rail clearance and drilling challenges, as those insights may help other RV owners tackling the same project. Thanks for including the photo as well. Your finished installation looks great! Now that it's installed and you're moving on to the diode kit and brake away switch, what adventure are you looking forward to most this summer in your RV?
